The cool new product was stuck on hold, for no one was able to process the mold.
They tried hot runners, larger gates, fast and slow injection rates,
Higher melt flow, and higher still, but the cavity refused to fill.
So they hired a process engineer, but he didn't say what they wanted to hear.
He said, "It's not a matter of fast or slow, you need a place for the air to go".
His cry was sure and unrelenting, "If the mold won't fill, you must add venting!".
So they ground some vents into the base, and dared the flash to show its face.
But the bubbles and flow lines disappeared, the sinks and voids no longer feared.
Then projects came and projects went, and many were saved by adding a vent.
In time his reputation spread. "Add more vents!", he always said.
And so one night, at the peak of his fame, they gave a banquet in his name.
But he showed up late for the grand event. His left front tire had developed a vent.
